Overview Photos Profiles Location: Welligma, Galle, Sri Lanka Person in charge: The Dominican Order Arklow Sri Lanka Committee: Susan Breen, Stephe Wylde, Jackie Gannon, Monique Freeman, Michael Murray, Mary Hickey, Breda Sinnott, John Kavanagh and Brian Brennan. Building work commenced on the 25th of April 2005 and was opened in November 2005. There are now 27 girls living in the home which was The Ireland Sri Lanka Orphanage Funds first project. This was one of the largest projects built within the first anniversary of the tsunami. Funds were raised in Arklow and surrounding areas to build this home as well as the Arklow Boys Home and the Training College. All funds raised went directly into these projects, none of this money was spent on overheads.
